Camelô is a mobile urban collaboration tool that supports the collection and composition of sound and music across economic, cultural, and physical boundaries. It invites users across the world to record sounds with their mobile phones and post them via SMS or email. The sounds are geo-tagged and displayed in both grid and map views.
The alpha web application was field tested across several neighborhoods in Rio de Janeiro in collaboration with Rafael Soares and Bruno Silva. It was also used as part of multiple Urban Collab Labs in Nairobi, 2013. Future phases of the application are in the planning stages.
